Reasons Netflix Doesn't Want to Launch Applications on Apple Vision Pro

Netflix Co-CEO Greg Peters has stated that the company is not yet ready to launch its streaming app on Apple Vision Pro devices. This is because it would require a significant amount of effort and is not currently justified by the number of potential customers who own the headset. However, Peters did not rule out the possibility of Netflix being available on the platform in the future. Other companies, such as YouTube and Spotify, also do not plan to develop apps for the Apple Vision Pro. Currently, the only streaming service available on the device is Apple TV+. Despite this, Netflix has previously launched a VR application and created VR content, but it is not yet available on the Vision Pro.

Netflix Co-CEO Greg Peters said that the company is not yet ready to launch its streaming app to Apple Vision Pro devices. But what’s the reason?

The Apple Vision Pro has been on pre-order for some time, and renowned analyst Ming-Chi Kuo reports that Apple has managed to sell between 160,000 and 180,000 units.

Unfortunately, hundreds of thousands of users who have sophisticated devices from Apple cannot use their devices to watch various films or series on the Netflix application.

According to him, launching the application requires quite a lot of effort, and this is not commensurate with the number of potential customers who own the headset.

However, this doesn’t mean Netflix will never be available on the Apple Vision Pro. Peters himself admitted that he was not against the presence of applications on the platform. It’s just that for now the company is waiting for the right moment to launch it.

On the other hand, Netflix isn’t the only company that isn’t launching apps on the Apple Vision Pro. The reason is, YouTube and Spotify also do not plan to create special applications for these devices.

However, for users who have a device and want to open YouTube or Spotify, they can still access it via a web browser.

The only streaming service available on the Vision Pro is Apple TV+, and it’s not just a virtual screen display. Because the company also launched a new format called Apple Immersive Video with 180 degree 3D format in 8K resolution and Spatial Audio.
