Competing with YouTube, TikTok will present 30 minute videos

ByteDance, the company behind TikTok, is planning to compete with YouTube by allowing TikTok to present 30 minute videos. This is a departure from the platform’s focus on short videos, with initial videos only being 15 seconds long and later being extended to 10 minutes. This move suggests that TikTok is trying to expand its offerings and compete with YouTube. The extended duration could open up new opportunities for posting full episodes of TV shows and other long-form content. However, it is uncertain when or if this feature will be rolled out to all users. Additionally, ByteDance is expanding its presence worldwide and is expected to reach around $110 billion in sales in 2023.

ByteDance is said to be trying to compete with YouTube. The company plans to make TikTok capable of presenting 30 minute videos.

Until now, TikTok is still very focused on presenting short videos. Initially this application only offered 15 second videos, and now videos can be up to 10 minutes long.

With this new effort, it appears that the short video giant from China wants to change from its trademark. Apart from that, this feature has also been discovered by British social media consultant Matt Navara, in the Beta version of TikTok on iOS and Android.

Reported The telephone from Gizmochina on Thursday (25/01/2023), to increase the number of users, the platform is testing videos of up to 20 minutes. This shows clearly that TikTok really wants to compete with YouTube.

However, this extended duration could open up new opportunities for posting full episodes of TV shows and other long-form content on TikTok.

As an app popular with short videos, TikTok will offer users the ability to speed up videos by tapping and holding on the right side of the video.

This feature was also visible when TikTok started testing 15-minute videos several months ago. Additionally, TikTok has prepared longer videos with the addition of a horizontal full-screen mode.

It will be interesting to see how users react to a 30-minute video on TikTok, which is known for its short videos. However, it is still uncertain when or if this feature will be rolled out en masse to all users.
